April 1, 2019–Happy April Fool’s Day!
Today, April 1, is called April Fools’ Day. This is a day that was meant to be filled with laughter and foolish, harmless pranks.
Some of the foolish things that happen in the Western World are:
- spoofing people into believing an event has happened, even though it really is a prank
- sending people chasing after false phone calls, emergency situations, and even false arrests
- marking people with signs like “kick me” or other funny signs
All of these little episodes are a way to take people outside of themselves, and to immerse them in something beyond their control.
April Fools’ Day is a gift that lets us experience living in the present moment.
