Howdy Folks
Several years ago was reading a report that according to the law of Aerodynamics ~~a bumblebee can’t fly.
The wings are too short and the body is too heavy for it to get off the ground. Makes perfectly good sense.
But the bumblebee never went to school to learn this~~so since it is ignorant of these scientific principles, it is able to fly.
When completing high school, folks asked me what work I was going to do for a living.
Liking to be outside and not wanting to sit behind a desk, I decided to be a bricklayer.
At the time, I weighed 120 pounds and was told I was too small to work with brick and cinder block and should get an easier job.
I didn’t listen~~and within 3 years I was the foreman supervising building the biggest shopping center in Tennessee~~and continued this job for nearly 30 years.
Finally realized the world was no better because I built shopping centers. They were just places for people to spend money they didn’t have, at prices they couldn’t afford, to buy things they didn’t need~~it impressed people who didn’t care.
So, what to do with no degree, no political influence, limited vocabulary, ‘watermelon’ being the biggest word I knew?
I had read of a man named Jose Silva and taken a class with him. His work was interesting and I respected him. I learned some techniques for healing and was getting known locally.
I called Jose’s office. introduced myself and and told the person answering the phone~~~
I would like to be a lecturer in Virginia and Tennessee. When would you like for me to start?
Was told I needed to think it over and call back next week.
My reply was, “Tell me now and I won’t need to call next week.”
After a bit of haggling, I agreed to call the following week and was asked about my credentials.
My reply was ‘a construction foreman and good at it.’
Was told that was not the qualifications they were seeking.
I replied’ “that is not the issue, the question is ‘WHEN DO I START’?
After a bit more conversation, it was agreed I could visit the office in Laredo, TX. and take the required training.
So, I packed a few pair of faded jeans and some T shirts and drove my old truck to Laredo.
Now a strange thing had happened. A few weeks earlier, my friend Jack Kestner, a retired news reporter asked if he could interview me about the ‘healing work’ I had been doing.
The story made a full page with pictures in the local paper and the photographer sold my picture and story to the ’National Examiner,’ A paper that was sold at checkout counters in stores.
Someone in the Silva organization saw my picture on the front page of National Examiner and recognized I was the person who had called applying for a job.
When I arrived in Laredo at the Silva office, they provided a warm welcome.
In the process of training, a trainer asked the population of my city. Replied that I didn’t live in a city, but there was a small town 8 miles up-river that had a traffic light but it wasn’t really needed.
Was rudely told I might as well pack up and go home. Again, I didn’t listen but have been so THANKFUL for that advice.
It gave me the determination to prove him wrong~~but it wasn’t always easy.
This area of the country wasn’t open to the idea of changing situations with your mind or any type of non-physical healing.
The fundamental religious folks accused me of working for the devil but I assured them I was self employed.
However, a few people risked taking a class with me and saw their lives improve. and provided free advertising.
That year I walked away with the award of First Year Outstanding Lecturer for the US.
Went back next year and walked away with the Second Year Outstanding Lecture for the US.
One major event was being invited on Coast to Coast AM Radio a few times with over 5 million listeners. This led to speaking in 40 states and most Canadian Provinces. All without a suit and tie.
Jose Silva was a good man and I admired him. At the time, his organization had reached 100 countries.
At the last count someone made, I have reached 160 counties.
When asked how? Just didn’t know I couldn’t~~ just like the bumblebee.
